Dear Wellness Travel,
Thank you very much arranging my for the recent last-minute trip from Singapore to Phuket and the coordination of my knee MRI in Bangkok Hospital Phuket. Having never been to Phuket, it was such a relief to be greeted by a friendly, English-speaking staff member and driven directly to the Bangkok Hospital Phuket. The hospital is definitely one of the nicest I have ever been in, with some of the nicest and friendliest staff.
 

Khun Pasitpat took great care of me, escorting me to registration and my appointment, and keeping me company throughout my time in the hospital. It was great to hear about life in Thailand and get a local perspective on the sites to see and activities to do (pending the knee injury and MRI results).

Being from the States, I thought we had some of the best run and highest quality healthcare, but I was dead wrong and couldn’t believe how it paled in comparison to Thailand. The whole hospital process and timing was more efficient than anything I could have thought possible, with better quality delivered in the nicest manner and most respectful manner. Despite even arriving 30 minutes before my scheduled appointment, I was able to have a quick consult with Dr Banyong and have my MRI almost as immediately as I could change into a hospital gown. Can you believe that, a Doctor cutting his afternoon lunch short to accommodate my being early!

After the MRI, I got the results and was able to sit back down with Dr Banyong to go over them with an hour and a half! And while I’m sure he was very busy, he took all the time necessary to go over the results and answer my multitude of questions regarding risks and benefits of a surgery, complications from my injury and my potential options.
After this I was guided to the pharmacy for some medication, with my MRI photos and the digital copies on a disk, and taken to my Hotel.

I must commend and thank Dr Yin for her recommendation of the CC Bloom Hotel in Kata. The view was breathtaking, the staff great and overall hotel experience was fantastic. It was a quaint little boutique hotel, off the beaten track, where were able to quietly enjoy the sites and incredible beaches of Phuket.

Overall, my first medical travel experience and visit to Phuket was amazing and could not have gone better. I am so glad I chose Wellness Travel and would wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone. I will certainly be booking my knee surgery through them in the near future.

 Finding my lost smile in Thailand, the medical vacation of a lifetime - Samitivej Hospital, Bangkok
I'm a business owner in the USA; I work hard and play hard. Mom always told me to clean my plate (eat everything), so I have always been a big eater. As time went by I realized even though the rest of me was normal, my gut was growing to the point I couldn't even tie my shoes. My doc said I should exercise more, I did I joined a  health club, but nothing was happening.

Finally, I made the decision to get serious and do something about it like getting lipo.

It took months of research before I found Wellness Travel on line and made my first contact about six weeks out. Everyday after, I was getting email from Dr. Yin Min Khine, who guided me through all the necessary paperwork and US doctors reports I would need. She made the whole process so easy!

My Air China flight from NY Kennedy to Beijing and then on to Bangkok Thailand arrived on time 11.55 PM, where Dr. Yin had made arrangements for my transportation with Samitivej Hospital to pick me up at the airport (unheard of in the US!). I cleared customs by midnight and became part of the teaming hoards exiting this huge modern airport. It was now 12.30am and I was still searching for my ride among the hundreds of vans and taxis. I walked back in to the airport when I realized there was a corral with van and limo drivers with signs, when I saw it; a sign with my name on it, "whew"!
Exhausted from my long flight, I was soon at my destination Samitivej Hospital where I was met by a person that was waiting for me and who hustled me up to my beautiful room in the residents quarters. I slept like a baby.

After a delicious breakfast served in my room and a hot shower, I made my way to the Wellness Center where I was introduced and welcomed to Samitivej Hospital by English-speaking Business Development Officer Kim Kritsavong, who had coordinated all my appointments with Dr Yin. From that moment on Kim hustled me through two days of medical testing and meetings with all the top doctors and surgeons who would be working on my case and who were US trained and spoke excellent English. She gave me her card with instructions to call her from any phone if I got lost or when I'm
ready to go to the next appointment.

If this was the USA, I would be traveling miles in different directions to go to doctors appointments, but not so at Samitive Hospital. This place is huge, and all the doctors and surgeons are under one roof. I had CAT scans that dissect your body in to five parts, chest xrays, stress test, corroded artery test, and every blood test known to man, teeth deplaking with fillings replaced, eye test, hearing test, prostate, lungs, liver, kidneys, and dermatology. It was non-stop for two days, but no waiting for hours in waiting rooms. Each appointment waiting time was less than 15 min!

If these test were performed in the US it would cost more than my entire surgery, including plane fare, my ten day recovery vacation on the Sea of Siam at Hua Hin, which included horseback riding in the surf only 14 days after surgery, and my three custom-tailored business suits.

After my last medical test, Kim gave me a walk-through of the operating areas. This really blew me away! Before anyone is allowed to enter these areas, including surgeons and nurses, everyone has to take off their street shoes and coats cross the line into the clean area and slip into medical shoes and full medical garb.

This clean room works on the same principle as the clean rooms in the many Nuclear power plants I have worked on in the US. Nothing comes in, nothing goes out.

In the US you see doctors nurses, cleaning people and even relatives walking into operating areas in street shoes and clothes! I hate to say this, but you read about it every day. We wonder why so many people in the US that have surgery end up with life threatening infections, or the amount of people that go into hospital with one disease and come out with three more!

The Samitivej Hospital clean room and policy in Bangkok, Thailand should be a model copied and practiced world-wide.

Although I had originally wanted just Lipo, after I saw the pricing I asked my Cosmetic Surgeon, Dr. Chartchai, if he could replace my smile that I had lost 20 years ago after a jaw operation. His answer after a brief examination was, "No problem, we'll get your smile back". So I ended up with a face lift that eliminated droopy upper and lower eye-lids. I later learned that Dr Chartchai is not only one of the best Cosmetic Surgeons in Thailand, but also one of the most decent, common sense, easy to talk to professionals I have ever met. Part of his training was done in New Hampshire USA and his
description, "Very cold!"

Operation day came early, 7am getting hooked up, painless, laughing and joking with Dr Cha Cha (that's what they call him!) Suddenly feeling all warm and toasty, then Gone............. Woke up about 10 hours later feeling good, but groggy. My head and torso dressed like a Mummy they just dug up in Egypt, all hooked up to monitors and hoses and wires, with nurses coming in constantly to check my vitals. As I drifted in and out of sleep with my mind wandering! Here I am half way around the world in a strange Hospital in Bangkok, Thailand, no friends, no family feeling very alone. I hear visitors in the hallway, but nobody is coming to see me except the smiling nurses.

I can't see anything, I don't know whether my eyes are open or closed. Then I heard a familiar voice speaking my name in English with a distinctive French accent, it was Kim Kritsavong my surgery coordinator and Samitivej Business Development officer asking if I'm OK, do I need another pillow ,do I need to use the bath room, are you hungry, are you thirsty, can I get you anything, are you warm enough can I get you a blanket, do I have any pain, can I get you some juice. Kim said she knew I would be alone and have no one to visit me, so she decided to come and visit me herself.  Kim became a
regular visitor in those early days of my recovery. I can't begin to tell you how important her visits were to me and my recovery to be able to communicate with someone that is so bright. When the fog started to clear from my eyes I see a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a morning paper, I asked the nurse to pass me the card to see who they were from, but there was no card! I learned later that they came from Kim.

It became very apparent to me that Kim Kritsavong represents the core value of Samitivej Hospital with her professionalism in coordination and business development and represents Samitivej Hospital's professional concern, selfless dedication and kindness for its patients, along with Dr. Chartchai and his brilliant surgical team, and Samitivej Hospital's wonderful doctors and nurses.

With Dr Yin and Wellness Travel helping along the way and making it so easy, it doesn't get any better!

Post surgery, I'm doing great, lost another 5 lbs this week and my friends and family think it's great. I had three business suits made in Hua Hin where I was measured for them 10 days after surgery. Before I left Hua Hin 10 days later they had to take the waste in another 2 inches! After surgery, I lost 10 lbs, however, I had a lot of swelling from surgery (that is normal), plus it could take three or four months before it all goes down. I have to thank Kim Kritsavong and Dr.Chartchari for educating me in good eating habits, to stay away from beer, fatty and fried food. They got me hooked on Thai food, fresh veggies with delicious sauces, salmon, chicken and pork in small portions.

It works. In fact, it feels like my stomach has contracted. I went to my private club here in the US for dinner, a Rack of baby back ribs slathered in steak sauce with fries or potato's with a slab of bread and butter. Hmmm, it looked so good. Then I saw people stuffing their mouths with all this fat!! the alarm bells went off in my head! I had to walk away, I settled for the wild salmon stake and boiled rice with veggies, awesome! I no longer need Large portions, I'm full of energy and I'm losing weight. I have now lost 31 lbs in less than one month without going on some crazy diet, my gut has gone and my abs are showing thanks to 20 min of exercise at the gym every other day.

Dr.Yin, thank you for your care and professionalism throughout my experience. I have your present mounted as a reminder of all you wonderful people. I was watching CNN on health care, a well known American Doctor who just wrote a book that came out and said America no longer has the best health care. If you want excellent hospital care, top doctors and surgeons you need to go to Bangkok Thailand. How about that! It made me feel good.

I took care of my medical needs and had the greatest vacation ever.

Go To Dentist - get your Heart restored (Courtesy of Bangkok Hospital Phuket)
I went to the Bangkok Phuket Hospital in Phuket Town on Tuesday last week for dental work. When I was leaving -- with two teeth perfectly restored -- members of the hospital's international department persuaded me to take part in their "Senior Executive Health Check Programme" which is at 50 per cent discount in off-season.

I said yes and agreed to come back fasting next morning ie Wednesday. All went swimmingly well until I got to the stress test "rolling road" machine where they wire you up to the electrocardiograph. After a few minutes, the technician noticed an anomaly and very shortly a cardiologist appeared and explained to me that the trace showed strong evidence of a heart problem -- of which I knew nothing.

The director of the heart department then showed up, the two had a short chat in Thai and told me that they wanted to admit me to hospital there and then. Three hours later I was in theatre watching on TV monitor as tube blew dye into my heart!

After this was over, the senior guy came (complete with his own hand Dr.awn sketch) and showed me that one of the lower arteries had serious disease and that they proposed treatment for the following day, using a balloon to blow artery out to normal size and then inserting a metal "stent" to keep the artery open permanently.

I agreed.

Thursday around midday I went down to the catheter room and watched the whole thing again on the monitors as the work was performed. Must admit I closed my eyes once or twice! Spent Thursday night in the intensive care unit and was let out on Friday at 5.00 pm with a sackful of various pills to lower blood pressure and control high cholesterol. Said artery had been 80 per cent blocked, so I, quite unknowingly, had been facing into a serious heart attack in the near future! I had not felt that bad -- although had been feeling tired and not sleeping very well last six months.

This I assumed was due to rushing around, overseas trips and moving residence. Any discomfort that I had had was put down to indigestion problem for which I had been examined and treated a few years ago.

Now I feel as if my whole body is lighter and running better, much like a car that has been in for a full service and had dirty plugs changed! Somebody somewhere has been saying a prayer for me. I had walked -- by chance, almost -- into one of the best private hospitals in SE Asia and one of only two in Thailand outside Bangkok with a heart department capable of doing this very high tech work (they also perform open heart surgery) If you, like me, are a middle aged man and have not had a full physical check-up for some years (if ever), consider taking the opportunity.

Its better to have the problem caught in time than try to recover from a heart attack -- if you recover!

For those who want to visit this city-country (Singapore) there is no need to know English language for good holidays. And also there is no need to go to Russian tourist companies who offer individual tours to Singapore. It is enough to combine holidays with medical treatments or health check up in on excellent Singapore Hospitals. “Wellness Travel” Singapore Company can help you with it.
A lot of people can say that it is expensive to have medical treatments in Singapore, but we all have the one health. When we are planning to buy a car we all prefer good, safe, quality, fast, nice foreign car to “zhiguli” (Russian car), because we respect ourselves and think that we deserve it.  So why do we hope that miracle will heal us, when we go to our run-down hospital or clinic, where you can’t even put your finger in the brilliant green (antiseptic), because doctors don’t have any? Needless to say about other medical equipment. Where they make you stay in 10 queues, propping up walls in narrow stinking corridors and also asking to fulfill a lot of papers, will be rude to you, will shout at you and make you pay for it, by the way not the small amount of money. And as a result of all these manipulations, our medical staff more rarely give you the real diagnosis, instead they prefer to give you a reference to the next medical specialist (preferably after their recommendation) and give you receipts for a lot of expensive medicine (they’ll receive money for it from the pharmacies companies). 
So I’m advising to go and compare by yourself health service here and there. When you’ll feel the difference, you’ll understand why it may cost a bit more money. Our friends recommended to us a Singapore Company called “Wellness Travel”. Their friends also recommended them this company. It is differ from a lot of Russian companies, because it is not trying to get money from increasing the cost of medical treatments. It is easy to check, there are hospital prices on the treatments and you’re paying straight to the hospital, without reseller’s price make up.
Wellness Travel will help you to choose the right program and will give you advice with better medical specialists. (In Singapore there are a lot of specialists in different medical areas).   They’ll make an appointment for you, they also will help to receive visas in 2 working days, find you the hotel, organize transfer from and to the airport. You can choose your own affordable program, hospital, hotel or apartment.   
If you need an interpreter, I’ll recommend you to use Wellness Travel’s interpreting service and not to overestimate your abilities in your English language knowledge, particularly the medical terms. You’ll pay more money here for medical consultation – extended consultations cost more – but are worth the price. Interpreters will not only will take your hand and go with you everywhere you want to go, but in Clinics it is necessary to know where to go, because hospitals buildings are huge, but he’ll also save your time. The full cardiac screening for my husband including ECG, ultrasound, CT-scan, 2D-Echo, blood tests, etc, doctor’s consultation before and after, medical advises, color images, photos, and DVD-writing the whole process of tomogram took only 4 hours on 1 day and 1.5 hour the next day. The rest of the time we went to excursions, swimming and walking.
The results of these tests allowed the Singapore doctors to disprove our previous and serious diagnoses from Russian doctors who groundless misdiagnosed my husband in our country for 6 years.
There are a lot of positive impressions about medicine and service here, so there was no regret of money that we spent on the screening or treatments.
We have left with a lot of good impressions of medicine and service quality.

 Raffles Hospital – Pregnancy Complications

After complications arouse in my pregnancy I was advised to spend several weeks under medical care for observation. With the help of my Wellness Travel Customer care consultant I chose the Raffles Hospital in Singapore and stayed there a total of six weeks. The hospital provided extraordinary care and the doctors and nurses are superb. In fact, my only complaint was that the hospital food was a bit monotonous after a while, especially for a pregnant woman! My Customer Care Consultant, Jane, checked in with me almost daily and when she heard of my complaint she arranged for a local hotel, The Fullerton Hotel, to provided daily food catering for me. The hotel staff called each morning to ask what I wanted for lunch; and again after lunch for my dinner request. Wonderful! The food was always freshly cooked and delicious. Happy to say that my babies (twins --boy and girl!) are doing fine.
Thank you so much to Dr Yin and Jane for helping me get through this difficult time and making such a positive difference on my time in the hospital! I am eternally grateful.

Hello Dr Yin and Amy,
I would to thank you both very much for walking me through my surgery. Your kindness and strong support have made my experience pleasurable.
The glitch of the first surgery is rather unusual; however, it helped me understand some misconceptions that I had and enable me to reconsider my options. In spite of what I have read, local anesthesia was not best suited for this kind of surgery. Deciding on general anesthesia the following day was a much better choice and enabled me to get over my fear of general anesthesia. Thus, I have no regrets.
I also would like to thank you for patiently answering my thousand questions and give me re-assurance. I enjoyed spending quality time with you both and chat over coffee.
I would definitively seek your services again shall I decide on more procedures. If nothing else, I would recommend your services to others.
I hope to see you again in San Francisco or Bangkok.

Treatment for Double Vision

Hospital staffs are well trained and I was really satisfied with their skill on taking care of the patient. The instruments and the investigation machines are highly advanced to support the specialists for the definite diagnosis.  The specialist treated me properly and I was totally recovered from my suffering after I have received the treatment from the hospital.
